Bodo, can you recommend a good site/book for a Photoshop beginner? I've been meaning to learn it for ages but don't know where to start. Something with some good step by step tutorials would be perfect. Many thanks.

Gav, I started playing with that software when I got it on my computer. I'm not using Photoshop, but TheGimp, which you can download free from www.gimp.org , but it actually doesn't matter if you use one of these two, or another capable program like PaintShop Pro. They basically all have the same tools, and they work with layers, which is the most important bit:

On the bottom-layer is the original picture. I created a second (transparent) layer, where I painted some yellow, where the wheels should go golden. I adjusted that layer to only inherit the colour to the bottom layer. The result looked a bit mealy, so I created another transparent layer with ochre colour above the wheels, and I made it only to overexpose the bottom layers in the wheels areas. That's it.

I've made a quick search, and found a site that deals with modifying car pictures with Photoshop. There are some good tutorials with tangible examples, albeit with a bit too laxist motives

But do u have to have a steady hand to follow all the lines or is there an intelligent method of doing it? Is that what the polygon lasso does?
