I don't appear to have the option on my 991 for automatically dipping the passenger side mirror when putting the car into reverse. Can anyone tell me what option I should have specced to have this facility?

Thanks

I think you need to have the multi way adjustable electric seats with memory function

Yep, need the full electric seats. Also comes with the electric/memory steering column

No disrespect at all to anyone who's bought a 991 as it's a great car, but this was one of the features that really put me off it.

The electric moving steering column made me think Merc SL, and over engineered weight so much that I thought I'm not so much into this car.

NB I'm very much aware that the above is a subjective pov as the 991 is lighter than the 997. Would be good if they'd made it lighter still by forgetting electric steering columns etc..

I'm afraid it's what the market demands and Porsche have to pander to it if they want volume.

However, here's hoping the GT3 dispenses with such bks.

I'm sure gt3 won't have. Doesn't it need a strong rigid rack to be able to race around a track. I'm sure an electric memory rack isn't as performance orientated. Never mind the weight.

Thank you - that answers my question.

I have ordered a Boxster S for March delivery and I thought the extra £1900 seemed a lot just for 18 way adjustable seats so I didn't spec it. I am thinking if it includes all the memory functions and dipping passenger mirror then I might have to add it if I still have time.

We did this just to get the dipping mirror (to protect the 20s!)

Dealer met me half way on option price because I said it was a deal breaker otherwise

My dealer already has my order so I guess he wont be too keen to talk about a discount! Can you explain what the 18 way adjustments are?!! Thank you.

Why not just dip the mirror using the switches on the door, it only takes a couple of seconds? Found myself doing this a couple of times over the weekend, especially when negotiating a "drive through" where the mirror would not automatically dip anyway as I was going forwards.

I have this function on my Turbo and never use it, I always do it manually if need be.

Hardly used electric/memory seats however auto dipping mirror was quite useful if parking in tight spaces for alloys. No biggie if you dont have it.

The dealer agreed to add the 18 way adjustable memory seats for £1,500 instead of £1,900.
