I've just returned from a week in Dallas, Texas with work. Managed to get a Ford F-150 pickup truck as a hire car. Whilst it was hilariously HUUUUUGE it also had a really lovely V8 up front, so at the age of 37 I finally got to pop my V8 cherry. can't quite believe it has taken me this long to do it.

How old were you when you drove a V8 for the 1st time, and what was it?

Amazingly, first drove a V8 Lamborghini Uracco when I was in late 20s (owned by a friend) but took until my early 40s to get a V8 (Audi S4) after years of BMW straight sixes. Love the v8 - everyone has to have one...

I guess in my mid 20's, driving my dads Daimler V8 250! Only 2.5 litre and really not that quick - but that's not what it's about. It certainly makes the right noises, and has the corresponding diabolical fuel consumption to match.

Since then have had the pleasure of driving a few - Ferrari 355, BMW E39 M5, Audi R8 and a Dodge Challenger.. it never gets boring smile Just makes me want to actually own a V8 now..

Mate's Mum's 3 month old RR Vogue SE aged about 17 1/2.

He was sat on the roof with a shotgun after his Dad was getting cheesed off with the rabbits and wanted a favour!

I was late teens/early twenties, and owned successively two Rover P6 3500s.

Since then, I've had a V8 Landy SIII SWB, a P38 4.6 Rangie, a Monaro VXR and currently have an L322 with the Jag 4.4. I also think I've missed one more somewhere [scratches_head].

As someone once said - you can never have too many V8s!

My Dad first gave me the keys to his Jensen interceptor shortly after passing my test at 17. Brave man... Great fun though!

I got to drive, just once, some enormous Yank Estate car in my late 20s. I suspect it had a V8.
Since then, not one until last month when I bought my SRT8 Jeep.

After getting a jump start from the RAC this morning I was advised to keep the revs up using manual mode, on the way home. Good idea yes
