Stock car, manual gearbox, amateur driver.
The 2013 BMW M135i was able to lap the Nordschleife in 8 minutes and 5 seconds.
The lap was done by amateur driver Pavel Janda from AutoForum.cz in a stock car fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox and riding on Michelin Pilot SuperSport tires. The car was quicker than the Porsche Cayman S, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, BMW Z4 M Coupe and BMW M5 (E60).

A professional driver should be able to take a big chunk off that time, surely!?

As above, that is a BTG time (bridge to gantry) - not quite a full lap
Terry is bang on^^^^, typically 25secs is added to that time to make a full lap.
A humble E46 M3 is capable of doing a BTG time in 7:35 (albeit with race tyres, suspension and a bit of interior missing)

Even so, thats a fast lap in the M135 no matter which way you look at it. Good car

The M135i is a great little car but the person driving is far from a great little driver.
Lines and apex's were all over the place and braking way too early; shoddy.
As good as the M135i is .... Has anyone thought that Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres are quite new and were not used on the E60 M5, Z4 M Coupe, E46 M3 Coupe, Cayman S, C63 AMG so not a completely fair comparison.... As we know the tyres and their mechanical grip make a HUGE difference but even on standard PS2s I have no doubt the M135 would post a very respectable time.
I would love to see what M135 can do on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups and how close gets to the M3 CSL :-) ?

Interesting. Given the central mounted camera it's sometimes hard to tell but I didn't see any missed apex's (only watched three mins or so) and not at all sure how you tell from this vid that driver was braking too early?? Not having at go at you (OSLaden) btw.
Whatever, obviously a fun little car.
I thought that too,the driving looked very good considering the conditions and low track temp.Whatever, obviously a fun little car.

By now you should know that you are amongst driving Gods on PH! Hope to grab a pax lap at the next DN td in 2013. Got to see what the fuss is all about...
No problem but it would be better in my friends car as it is so much quicker than mine with me driving,as its had some very good mods done by tom schirmer.I would like to have mine done as well but am debating what to do next year with racing and new garage building and the ring and spa.
And yes its always nice to be reminded that we are amongst the PH driving experts

You and your bus go round on autopilot by now though? Hope to meet up out there next year. 1M progresses(ish) but still in bits. Have an M3 again as daily now - and think I prefer it.............
Autopilot would be nice but it takes a lot of learning
I have picked up so much more knowledge over the last two years and its still great fun everytime we go out.Did Spa this year for the first time this year and it was amazing in a completely different way to the ring and i will definitely go back next year.Would be good to meet up next year and compare notes. Will be taking my car over around the end of april and bringing it back at the end of october so should get a fair few weekends in between those dates.Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
