hello,

was looking at some carpet options for the chim. I know there are kits etc, but fancy making them myself and getting them bound round the edges etc.

Is there a particular type of carpet thats suitable or unsuitable to steer clear of to use?

Wool always gives the impression of luxury, however, the natural fibres also trap dirt and smells etc. If I was to replace I would go for a very good quality synthetic or blend that cleans easy.

If your car is always garaged and never sees a drop of water other than from a bucket and sponge, then Wilton is fine. Otherwise, if any damps gets in your car, then a synthetic carpet will least allow you to wash the smell out and dry quickly.

Only if you supply them with a valid VAT number as a business.

If a UK consumer buys from a company in another EU country he will be charged Vat attributable to that country?

Purchasing from Hungary is best avoided ...... their std vat rate is 27% !

How long did it take to fit? Did you have to remove a lot of the interior?

2 weekends and most of it biggrin

I've recently done (most) of my carpets. Probably 2 full days to do the carpets, but I've been re-colouring the interior and replacing the seats.

When I get time I'll do a bit of a write up with pictures for anyone contemplating the job. It's really not that hard, just fiddly.

Very happy with the results

Seats re-coloured and trial fitted -

MX-5 seats off Ebay for £110, repaired and re-coloured using Furniture Clinic products.

Carpets stuck down with either this

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

Or this depending on location

Did the MX-5 seats work as a direct replacement or did you have to modify something to get them to fit? They really do look good... I agree, a full write-up is definitely required!

the MX5 seats fit in without much hassle.
swap the original runners onto the seats, hacksaw a bit of metal from the base of the seat and drill two holes in the runners for the MX5 seats to bolt to
seats for 100 from ebay, 40 for new headrest speakers (highly recommended) and then coloured with FC kit
(this was taken before recarpet).
i bought a carpet set from coverdale but decided not to fit it as there are so many pieces and lots needed trimming finishing properly to look spot on.

Sorry guys, bit of a hijack, but swanny, did you have to take the windscreen out to recolour the very back of the dashboard and the pillars???

I didn't remove the windscreen but spent age masking it up properly and used cotton buds to colour the tight area where the windscreen meets dash. There is a black border in the glass that hides most of the bit that aren't perfect.
Any colour you do get on the windscreen comes off easily enough with a wooden scraper.
