Hi all

Just wondering which companies you all use to make numberplates? I need one that can make a 6 digit (16x4) numberplate with all relevant kite marks without me having to send my documents across

Thanks
Julian

I've had several sets from http://www.fancyplates.com/ They do plenty of non-road legal (show only) styles, but are also good for standard, legal font/spacing plates.

Edited to say, not sure they are kite marked(?)

Yup I'd recommend FancyPlates as well.

Yes, I've used them a number of times and they've often come next day:

AFAIK you can get "road legal equivalent" plates made by Craigs Plates, Fancy plates and others. They will be marked SHOW PLATES on the back.

Obviously if the plates are correct no-one's ever going to look at the back. But don't forget the plates will show who made them and you will have left a clear record that you bought the plates - so I wouldn't try using them for anything dodgy!

I just bought a set from a company who say they are the only company supplying legal marked plates. Not at home so can't recall the neme but it can be done. Cost about £25 the set IIRC.

This company I think: http://www.platesforcars.co.uk/

The plates I replaced were about 2 years old and already peeling on the corners. You can get any plate cheap but I believe in paying more for stuff that lasts.

It makes a total mockery of all the tight legislation surrounding getting plates made doesn't it? biggrin

You can find people selling numbers plates "while you wait, no questions asked, no frills" at autojumbles and some car shows. These are fine on older cars (pre-2001 rings a bell but I could be way off the mark on this recollection smile !).

Not on the 'net, admittedly, but cheaper if less convenient.

Cant remember the name of the company now (which is next to useless i know( but i get all my Uk, Irish and German plates made by a company in Ireland. No docs required and will do plastic as well as Euro spec pressed aluminium plates for any country. They have an online 'plate maker' with all fonts available and also sell the euro type plate holders which allow the plates to slide in so no drilling required. As mentioned, theres no bullst questions asked they just make up the plates to your spec.

That would be eireplates.com

We have no requirement to provide documentation here. How long that will last I don't know. Cloning not such an issue with a relativley small national fleet.
