I've got a big double room to let in a nice house, lovely village in Essex. Have already put it on Gumtree & Spareroom but no response so far. Looking to place it on a few more websites but there's quite a few out there, and I'm a little skeptical that once I pay to upgrade membership all the 'wanteds' will vanish... Any suggestions welcome! Gumtree ad here if it helps: http://www.gumtree.com/p/flats-houses/double-room-...

Get in touch with your local Japanese student coordinator.

Get a nice quiet, polite, descreet and considerate Japanese student.

Stereo types exist for a reason!!

I use easyroommate. All my tennants come from there and my rooms go quickly. I usually just pay for the 10 day "premium" as thats all I need.

I used that too - had a steady supply of lodgers over a 2 year period without any problems. Thats not to say I didnt have problems with the quality of lodgers I got through it - but at least you can read their profiles and try to weed out the nutters & ugly ones.
