If anyone is interested ,ive got a company who are willing to make some aluminum spacers . They will be a lot cheaper than the one`s which are available at the moment ..

Im not even sure if they work but they are surpose to help with shunting and are used on super charger and Turbo installs .

They already make the Billet Plenum Spacer 14mm Cosworth for £40 so can`t see it being much more ..

Just wondering if it worth having it thicker than 15mm.

There gtting back to me with the cost but i was wondering once they have started to make them if it`s worth doing a bulk order ..

Daz, for me it didn't work. Fitted it, tried it, came back took it off and threw in the bin. Also, it seems to be the wrong side of the throttle to work.

But your baby 4.6 may not need it ..laugh

Do you have the smaller throttle body ?

They are fitted as standard with supercharges and Turbo`s . even if it does not work at least i have bought it cheaper ! makes me feel good idea

I thought they were originally made out of an insulating material to reduce heat soak rather than increase plenum capacity.

The insulator fits between the trumpet base and inlet manifold ,it`s something different which does work .

I have the cheap £6 one but there are better ones on the market , don`t go to thick .Best ones i have seen are the Magna Parva ones .. You need to contact 350MATT

I've got both... and they do keep the Plenum top nice and cool which is what you want... a nice cold charge into the cylinders... mind you, if you move the top of the plenum away from the trumpets too much, you'll lose torque so don't go mad... but you may gain BHP if thats what your after?.... smile

Will 15mm still fit in without it rubbing under the lid??... mine is about 10mm insulation material and its quite close....

I really still dont get this plenum spacer idea, yes a heat sink to keep things cool can only be good, but a larger area behind the butterfly is just going to make throttle response soggy

Im sure I can find some magnets you can put around your fuel line to ensure the perfect molecular alignment of the fuel that will lead to a 30% increase in power, 20% reduction in emissions and generally save the world... only £60. Now where are those new clothes for the king?

I'm not sure if the plenum spacers add enough volume to make a difference to power or response .. however if you're feeding a big volume plenum with a small throttle then there will be a delay in the plenum pressure raising. That may harm response when the engine isn't under load, but when you're in gear the engine can't accelerate any faster than the car will let it, so repsonse in real terms becomes less of an issue (blipping on downchanges excepted).
Plenum spacers do rather seem to be the answer to the question no-one asked. What's the betting the person who first thought of marketing them had a plenum sized remnant left over from another machining operation and wanted an excuse to sell it on rather than throw it in the scrap bin?

TVR Power seem to think they work ! They charge a fortune for them ..

If they don`t work i will forget the idea ,just thought it would be a good idea to get the spacers made for a reduced price !

A plenum spacer cant add power, its against the laws of pysics on a na engine, on a blown engine it will help, on a n/a engine you are never going to get to 100%, small plenum, large throttle body

The fact all these discussions overlook is the physical volume of the plenum is not the only factor at work, the chamber also sinks, reflects, and amplifies (in all sorts of unpredictable ways that directly impact flow) the pulses from valve (and combustion) events. Helmholtz resonances will probably equal or outweigh any influence simple air volume ever has. Depending on cam geometery and all the other variables at play, sometimes the effects will complement what you want to achieve, sometimes they won't...

Ignore me, the marketing material does indeed claim BHP increases...
