Hey guys, another technical question for you all!

I'm helping a friend out with a Clio. He has issues with the heater. I asked him these questions:

I said:
"Is the heater fan running (I.e. is there air blowing), or is there air flowing but it's cold?

How long is the car typically running for before you put the heater on? Is the engine temp gauge showing in the middle/90 degrees?"
To which he replied:

Friend said:
Well it blows out air but only at temperatures 2 and 3... 1 and 4 don't work... the air that comes out is quite weak and not what you would expect at level 3. The air temp seems ok tbh
Any ideas? I have feeling he means air speed setting instead of "temperature" when referring to settings 1,2,3,4 btw.

Best regards,

Matt

I had this on my mk3 Clio, it was the resistor pack that had gone.

^^ How big a job is it? And how much is the resistor pack?

Not a big job if you take it to a garage if that's what it is, mine cost £156 to have it done through Renault but if you had it done elsewhere it would likely be a fair bit cheaper. But when mine went it was the same sort of things as you said, it worked on setting 1 and 4 but not on 2 and 3, or something like that.

Worth posting in the Renault forum for more views though, the guys over there helped me before when I've had issues with the clio.

Agree go over to the Renault forums as they are specific to your car and helped me greatly also. Mine cost 105quid to replace.

The amount of air will vary depending which setting is selected of course (feet, vents only, feet and screen, vents opened or closed etc etc) so could it be that re: the amount of air being pushed around? Alternatively, if it has one, it could be something as simple as I had with my CR-V when the air was weak and that turned out to be a clogged pollen/cabin filter.I replaced that and things improved dramatically!

Renault section on PH, also worth trying cliosport.net and renaultforums.co.uk.

Renault forums is a different website specific to helping the users of the often horrendously problematic Renaults.
