Got a Mk2 Focus and over a couple of months the Power steering fluid drops from max to min. Not a massive amount and there is no sign if any leaks. I thought it was a sealed system, so is there a reason it might drop.

Yeah it definitely shouldn't be using it - it will be leaking out of somewhere, you just haven't found th spot!

Check the feed pipes from the resevoir to the steering rack as they have a tendency to go at the union between the pipe and rack. If it is this you will have to replace the entire pipe assembly (around £300 from a main dealer) as you cannot just change the union itself.

Keep an eye as it can contaminate your aux belts which you'll need to change if fluid has splattered the belts.

If it is this then check your aircon afterwards as the aircon pipework is in the same area and are very easily damaged while working on the powersteering pipes as I found out to my costmad
