Don't ask why, but I was searching for a Montego (Kind of want to find a turbo) when I stumbled across this:

I have never seen a car so... well the only word I feel that describes it accurately is... brown so sooo brown.

You're not wrong, that is very brown.

£2000? That's a bit strong isn't it?

I would say so, even taking account of the mileage, condition and relative rarity.

£2k does seem a bit steep - but it only has 15,000miles on it and looks to be in immaculate condition. I'm sure someone out there would be willing to drop that on a piece of Austin Rover history, I mean, it DID win a British Design Award! hehe

We had one in that colour, although it was a Countryman estate smile

The rear view mirror appears to be immaculately tucked into the passenger door pocket.

Memories... My Dad had one of those too. Hideous, though rose tinted specs seem to look more favourably on this one! To think when we had it as a kid of 7, I almost lusted after the Vanden Plas and MG models. HL spec was pretty crud.
Clove Brown, what a winner.

That is a Timewarp car, should be saved, perhaps used for films and the like.

Everyone eloves to slag the Montego off, they were alright really, judged against the standards of the time.

£2k for a 27 year old car that belonged in a scrapyard 25 years ago?

If this was a brown golf of the same age everyone would be saying it is a snip at £2000, but as per we have to slag it because its not from the Fatherland, I had three Montegos and I have to say the only weak point on any of them was the ste VW gearbox, the car as a whole was more advanced than the golf, christ we had a H reg one in the other day and it still had a manual choke.

We slag it off because it _IS_ st. It's terrible in every way.

I'd have the Golf over this even if I had to manually turn the pistons, let alone a manual choke.

In fact, if you took the engine out, cut a whole in the floor for me to walk 'Fred Flintstone' style, I'd still have that, over the poo-mobile.

Hmm, it has lasted 27 years why would someone scrap it after two ?

Ok, they werent paragons of rustproofing and reliability but they lasted longer than two years.

I get bored of everyone wanting to "kill it with fire" the minute anything British pops up

I would agree that at two grand it is possibly a niche market !

I love the fact that the dealer is called Chelsea Harbour, has a lovely photo of a marina (the boaty kind) on their website, but is in fact in a compound behind a petrol station on a main road in Bracknell!
