Number plates..
Discussion
Theoretically it should be vertical (according to the Construction and use regs.). I have an American made undertray on my bike which has the number plate at about 45 Degrees. I use a smaller than legal plate, but not ridiculous. So far, no problems. I think as long as it doesn't look like you are taking the pi$$, the police have more to worry about. At least where I stay they do !

So chaps, what is the exact risk of running a small plate? £30 fine first time, "Q" plate the next? or just £30 each time?? just curious. For no other reason than aesthetics.![]()

Penalty is at discretion officer and yourself. The first or second time you may get a VDRN (Vehicle defect rectification notice) and an FPT which require you to decide on how you are going to deal with it.
If you continually take the p*ss then the option would be removed I would imagine and you would just be reported for summons.
