997.2 Rear light water/condensation
Discussion
Dear All,
My 2009 997.2 has quite heavy condensation (large water bubbles) in both rear lights.
Anyone else got this in this weather?
I just tried to remove the light cluster to dry it out in the warm, but I notice the screw has got a tamper proof cover which will indicate that I have fiddled with it. I have the Porsche extended warrantee and don't want to invalidate it.
I was told by Porsche that the extended warrantee doesn't cover condensation in lights... Do you think I am safe to remove the cluster?
Best

Hi there
I had this problem with mine and I took them of the car several times to try and cure it, they come off very easy - just 2 screws, and remove the wiring socket.
The first time I dried them out with a hair dryer and put them back on the car - the condensation soon retuned.
The second time I took the apart and placed bags of silica inside, again the problem came back.
The third time, I decided to ventilate them, and removed some circular plastic insulation stickers you will find on the rear, and additionally opened up a few more holes in the rear of the casing. That was over a year ago and the condensation has never come back since, regardless of the weather - and my car lives outside.
