Nothing serious but very strange.

First wash and after drying the car I noticed that the wing mirror glass was still filthy. Cleaned them again using Invisible Glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth and they wouldnt clean. Ran my finger nail down them and the dirt/marks is inside the glass. WTF?

So, after a visit to the dealer they are replacing the glass on Saturday morning.

Weirdest thing I've ever seen.

Same cleaning method Ive always used and use on my other cars (4 buckets, 2 rinse, 2 soap, hose (no jetwash) Megs shampoo and 2-3 microfibre waffle drying towels). Never had any problems of this nature before.

I'd send it back and tell them you don't want the car anymore

Gone are the day's when Porsche made proper cars....

Strangest warranty claim ever coupled with the strangest forum post I've seen in a while. Weird.

Could it be a failure of the chemicals in the glass that allow it to tint at night?

Could be, they had no idea and neither did Stuttgart. No doubt the mirrors will be shipped over to Stuttgart for them to take a look. I would hope that would happen anyway.

Are you sure they are going to replace it?

They might strip it and re build it which will make it worthless.

Very strange - Manufacturing defect surely.

As an aside I bet TVR owners (back in the days of new ownership) could only dream of speaking to their local dealers about such issues:-)

I'm sure I read somewhere a cloudy mirror is a sure sign of impending RMS failure and bore scoring....

It also causes (or is caused by) severe and mysterious excursions into bad rev ranges and often happens...dum...dum...dum around the time it went in for a service. You didn't use *that* OPC did you? The one we can't mention.

Just a thought - Did you inadvertantly tick the option for revolving mirrors that can be reversed when the first glass becomes dirty. It comes as part of the spider removal option which includes an electric shock pack. It is good to know that Porsche consider those who live in the countryside although £1500 is a bit steep for those on an agricultural wage!

Dont be quick to judge TVR's. I've had more trouble with my 997 than any of the TVR's I've ever had.

All tongue in cheek of course! Having never owned a TVR I am not qualified to comment on their reliability. Loved the look of them but couldn't get over the fact they smelled of GRP! Certainly looked cool though and sounded great.
