I will be finally fitting an electronic linelock to my front brakes.

I am away from home at the moment and havent looked at the plumbing that closely lately.
I assume the dual front brake lines are direct from 2 outlets at the master cylinder.
My thoughts are to blank one outlet and fit the linelock valve to a single outlet from the master. I can run the 2 lines for the front brakes from there.

Any thoughts?

Hi dbv8, Just consulted the bible and you have a front and rear split system ( one circuit is front brakes and other for rear). So you should be able to tap straight in with your line lock without having to blank anything. I would advise not blanking anything in the braking system anyway as this would reduce the travel of fluid and therfore reduce brake effort which could be bad if you needed to stop in a hurry.
Hope this helped
Jamie

Sorry dbv8, Just questioned my reply and i am wrong. there are 2 outlets for the front and 2 for the rear. But i still would not advise blanking one off. People may have done this with no adverse effect on the brakes
but i am a bit belt and braces anyway. Sorry if i confused you

The problem is the linelock valve only has 1 input but ok for 2 outputs.
So i only want one feed from the master.
Otherwise i will have to shell out for a second linelock.

Usually the master cylinder has two pistons to protect against failures, one outlet per piston, see http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/br.... If you only use one outlet you will no longer have dual circuit brakes so a failure = no brakes.

Rob

N.B. a single outlet will work fine just as long as you don't get a master cylinder failure.

That doesnt help with 2 front brake feeds tho does it?

Arent the fronts fed from the same circuit and the rears from the other?

Not sure if it has, but if it has got 2 outlets for the front, just t them into 1 then into the line lock,

Surely its just 2 holes from the same chamber so using a t to 1 or just blanking 1 is the same thing?

Should be 2 outlets for the front brakes but only one outlet feeding both rears (splits above the diff) the other is capped with a bleed nipple frown proper dual circuit brakes to a diagonal split but like Ford TVR did front and back split laugh so four oulets on the MC but one capped Derek biggrin

Dont exactly know, but thinking about it, if you have twin outlets, blank one off, that is going to reduce flow (amount of fluid) to the calipers?, tee them into 1, in the 1 use a slightly larger bore pipe through the line lock, back into original small pipes per caliper? like i say not sure, all the old cars i have done have had 1 oulet to front and one to back, fit a bias valve and job done!

Thanks sardonicus, i am guessing by blanking off one of the rears and splitting one into 2 that is tvr's bias valve

Derek just cap one off the front ports then come off the only 1 left to the line lock and back straight into a T piece (you will have to source) that then supplies both fronts now, instead of having the maifold in the MC body you will have it externally at the T piece scratchchin this will have no impact on the brakes whatsoever wink single circuit car years ago went single outlet to feed four wheels with no problem biggrin

I cant remember if I have more than one outlet on my valve so i can either run 2 direct from there or will use larger diameter tubing if its possible from the master to linelock and linelock to t-piece if i can.

The important part is that i will have both feet free making the burnout much easier and no drag on the rears and less agro on the clutch.

Watch this space wink

Or you could be a lazt tt, put some real high temp pads in the back that dont work when cold, left foot brake and leave as is!

Actually I think they also have them load sensing valves inline one the T at the rear as Ford,Citroen,Peugeot,Vauxhall use scratchchin I have just noticed the early car does i.e mine an original small brakes pre 96 car but the later 500 spec braked cars don't scratchchin interesting I may have to do away with them seeing as I have the 500 spec rear brakes too now wink something else I have learnt today biggrin apart from my fecking tea keeps getting cold before I get round to drinking it laugh
