I am about to install the seats and I wonder if there is any better option but using the M8 bolts with nuts to secure the bolt to the rail so you can later tight it to the car bottom.
Welding the bolt in the rail might not be a very good option, because the first thing that is hitting the street if the ride height is not sufficient seems to be the seat bolts......and then if they are damaged, you have them welded in the rails and then...........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
So if there is a very smart solution that my small brain cannot come up with, I would love to hear it !

happy xmas

AB made the following captive nuts (is that right word ?) up for me, which slot in to seat rail and mean you don't have to try and hold nut in place, whilst doing up bolt from underneath the car

I did weld nuts inside the seat rails on mine.

I used stainless steel dome head allen screws to hold my seats in place. My thinking was that they would slide over anything hitting the underside of the car better than any other bolt.

Good idea like the AB captive nuts. I like Paul's solution too using dome headed allen screws

Depends if they are a good fit inside the runner. You could glue them with hot glue gun to stop them moving around while you get the bolts started.

They are a bugger to get to as the runners have to be fitted to the seats before you bolt them down (for those still building).

Like most seats and runners cannot be fitted another way, at least those found on Porsches and Mercedes

I put the bolts in the rail, positioned the seat and dropped them all through the holes, then jammed a screwdriver between the bolt and the rail to hold it in place while I tighten it. Seems to work well for me.

The nut or bolt head size is just too small to stop it rotating in the seat rail.
A splash of weld on the corner of the hex is all that is required.

I weld/ tacked the bolts into the rail, then had some wide 'cones' (50mm x 15mm high) out of ally 'turned on a lathe' to hide the bolt heats - any object hitting them will simply slide over, and protect the head.

I put steel rivnuts into the seat rails and then bolted them in from underneath with a bit of loctite - no need for nuts and the bolt heads only protrude a few mm, so no chance of them scraping on the speed bumps.

A bit off topic:

Anyone affix a nylon or steel "slider" to the pan using these bolts?
