i'm having some script errors and general daftness with clicking links not working, though the computer clicks!!

i'm running XP home 2002 service pack 1 and have intalled the latest script stuff from MS, internet is IEv6 sp1.

my main gripe is McAfee internet security suite, i just can't register... each time I get to submit i get a script error along the lines of permission denied::'windows.location.replace' in the mcafee registering program,

are there secret permissions i should set that i don't know about, is MS holding me back, i've reinstalled mcafee/windows/IE/script and anything else relevant.

just a tad vexing, i'm registered at mcafee, they have my details, i can use the chat help desk, and e:mail them, hell i can even use the phone, but the help desk, whilst polite and knowlagable about all superfluous computery things, but then so am i when it comes down to it - I don't have 5/6 hours to fiddle under the bonnet, I could stick linux on it in that time...

Cheers! Scruff.

I hate IE browser security, you can drive a cart and horses through it but it still manages to be a right pita.

You can disable a lot of the security measures (at your own risk) by adding the site you are visiting to your Trusted Sites list (Tools/Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites). Maybe this will allow you do register with McAfee. Isn't it ironic that internet security suite is causing the security problem?

Ah, the joys of service pack two.

Seemed to clear up the McAfee problem - at the expense of massive memory leaks and some other programs hanging indiscriminately

Still, got all my important stuff on a linux server...

Scruffy,
I'm having similar problems to you, loading Internet Security onto my new PC with XP home.
It told me an unauthorised program was trying to access my PC and the program was.............
McAfee Spamkiller.
Took ages and a lot of kicking to make it register and seemed to be going round in circles. It also went round in circles using Privacy Service to clean my PC on closing my browser.
Come back Windaz 98, all is forgiven.

Hi Andy (Scruffy)

Any chance of you paying me the money you owe me from Pistonfest 2003?

You emailed me a few weeks ago with promises of payment, but alas, as of yet, there's no sign of the scheckels.

Please contact me if the cheque is "in the post" or when you intend to send it.

TBH, this is getting really embarrassing, all for the sake of £25.
