The PST2 not only is capable of interrogating Porsche DME's but also has a section within the operating system to read out and do certain functions on non Porsche Cars.
The module is
Special Functions-Carb(ISO)

I'm hoping some one on here might have some experience of using the the non Porsche special functions system test.

I'm especially interested in the Pectel P6 2000 and whether it could read the functions and error codes for that ECU.

Hi Frank!

I very much doubt it, AFAIK the Pectel will only be interrogated by their own software.

The carb/iso function is extremely basic too, I have tried it on several cars, and the most i have managed to do with it is turn a cel off.

Tbh the grief we've been having getting the tester talking to std. cars I'd be surprised if it could talk to any aftermarket stuff..........

Still having fun with the early cars talking to the new tester?

Couldn't beleive it when we needed a 996 Turbo dme reset to std, had to go to Reading because Porsche had turned all the PIWIS testers off, and the new tester couldn't do it!

Almost all the PIWIS diagnostics computers went dark last year at midnight. Just a few that hadn't been upgraded with the kill version of the software are still alive.

To make matters worse the new diagnostic computer: PIWIS2; did not support the early MY cars.

Thanks James, Pope & Rockster.

I have Desk Pro for PETCEL T6 2000 but it would have been nice to keep my hand in with my PST2.Its taken my over a year to familiarize my self with it, Oh well I can only give it a try I suppose.
Anyway, I'm not selling it just in case (when) I do get another 911

That special function is not so special, I suspect. CARB is California Air Resources Board which is California's EPA...

The engine controller is on the ISO-9141-2 bus or possibly the KWP2000 bus. Both my 02 Boxster and my 03 Turbo use ISO. My 08 Cayman S used KWP2000. I was so hoping it used CAN for DME communication but CAN was used for the Komfort bus.

Anyhow, the reference is probably a short cut to perform some CARB mandated emissions test.

AFAIK the PST2 and other Porsche diagnostics computers converse only with Porsche vehicles.

Really,
Is it a proper PST2 or Durametric your using.
I'm specifically talking about PST2 , the proper Porsche workshop version that was pre PIWIS?
How often do you have problems?
Perhaps you have an interface problem?
