Hello all,

I'm looking for a car to replace my brilliant 130i and am very much struggling to come up with decent ideas.

I need the car to be fast (sub 7 secs to 60), relatively practical but not too high up on my list, sub 50k miles and no older than 2005.

Please rule out Imprezas, Evo's, Mazda 3 MPS' and Honda S2000'S and nothing French.

Let's hear them!

The 130i was the car I was going to recommend! Why do you want to change?

I don't particularly- I managed to write it off and finding another one in decent nick with low miles is nigh on impossible..

Seriously considering this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

Looks nice !

You checked out babybmw ? Couple on sale there at the moment.

This is an excellent example (slightly over budget)

Op your 22 and wrote off a 130i. Are you sure Mr insurance man will let you have another sub 7 sec car?

If so tell me who insures you as at 35 with a clean no claims I have to fight each year to keep my 6 second 0-60 guilty pleasure.

There's always one isn't there.

Yes my insurance has gone up but for all these cars it is now more than £1300.

Sorry to hear that, a little surprised you cant find a tidy 130 but they do seem to be holding their prices. I'm not sure they actually sell near the prices they advertise at though, there was a nice facelift 130i on BabyBMW earlier in the year which started at £11k ended up well under £10k yet didnt sell (or even have a viewing) for months, so those still asking £9-10k for standard pre facelift cars or £12k for facelift cars are dreaming IMHO.

What about a 335i, you might struggle to get one at that price under 50k miles, but certainly ticks the "fast" box.

Might be biased, but.. 3.0si E86 Z4? 6~ secs to 60. Can definitely get a soft top in budget and might just grab a tin top if preferred.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

With regards to the 335i kind of car these actually are a bit expensive on insurance as are M3's.

FYI the 130i was written off with an unfortunate mix of black ice, opposite lock and TC kicking in just when I didn't want it to. I'm still a plonker for not reading the road well enough though.
