Just thinking about what car I'd like to own after my Z4M and I'm coming up short. My criteria are:

- £25k-£35k
- V8 (a must - I really want one)
- Sporty chassis (ie. good handling)
- <1600kg (the lighter the better)
- Over 350BHP
- Nice interior

I was thinking E92 M3 but they look a bit bland and my last two cars have been BMWs or a V8 Vantage but the running costs look scary.

Anything with the AMG V8 in it would be my pick, most likely an estate

Jag XK V8 in budget? I would think they are.

Reckon you might get a higher mileage Maserati Gran Turismo in there at the top end of the budget, but running costs probably aren't pretty there either.

Honestly though, it'd be the M3 for me.

Edit - Just thought, and a little more left-field.. Lexus IS-F?

Slightly too heavy, otherwise an XKR would be best.

I like the look and the idea of the C63 but they are heavy. Too heavy.

Anything else? There must be something...

Mustang GT with the 444hp 5.0 V8. Should be down to £35k or less. Other than that, a supercharged version of the older 4.6 GT or a Roush/Saleen version.

LHD though and some say the interior isn't great but I'm not one of them.

Corvette C5 Z06 - similar conclusions.

I'd be tempted by a TVR Griff, complete with body off ground up rebuild and LS engine swap.

Surely the answer is TVR?

Although not sure about the "interior" requirement. Subjective.

BMW, Merc, but they'll both be heavy, or something American and possibly plastic
Poor quality in general.

Corvette C6. Unbelievable low maintaince costs. Bullet proof reliability. They just go on and on. Go for the Z51 spec. Uprated handling package.

35k will get you a Jag approved 2009 XKR 5.0

510 HP V8
0-60 in 4.6 seconds
All the toys you can think of as standard.
Fully comprehensive Jag warranty.
Relatively low service costs for such a powerful car.

XKR is really more touring than "sporty"....

Light as possible, lovely interior (if a bit weird), V8 and within budget. What about a nice 4.5 cerbera?

For you budget you'll get the best. As for running costs, for the performance they're very low, but with the fact it's 10 grand less than your top end, it'd be an absolute steal.
