Tyres for 18" spiders on a Tam
Discussion
I have a standard set up Tam with 18" spiders. Rears are on their last legs and wondering on peoples recommendations for replacements.
Been looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. Tread pattern isnt as 'sexy' as the Goodyears I will be taking off, but heard good things about them.
Toyo's also been mentioned, any experience?
Size wise, 235/40R18 95Y is what seems to be available, which is identical to the existing rubber, except they are 91, rather than 95. Believe this is a loading 'number', guessing that because its higher than the tyres coming off, there wont be issue, any views on that?

235/40/18 is the correct size for Tamora rears. The 95 is indeed the load rating. Most tyres of that size are 95, but whether it is 95 or 91 the Tamora is far lighter than that load rating.
The new Toyo T1-Sport are good for summer driving and seem fine in wet conditions. I am sure the Eagles are similar. I prefer to run the same tyres front and back, but you don't have that opportunity. Would be worth making sure that when you come to change the fronts you can get the same as whatever you fit to the rear. Toyo make the Tamora's 225/35 size (if that is what you are using), not sure about the Goodyears.

Good point and yes, I like to do the same. I will check out both in preparation for when the fronts need changing (not too far away). The new Toyo T1-Sport are good for summer driving and seem fine in wet conditions. I struggled with T1Rs on my Tam, both front and rear rubbed too much so I took them off after just a few miles. Still in the garage if anyone wants to buy them please contact me.
If you would prefer to keep the same design tyres front and rear the height of the front tyres limits choice somewhat.
I have found Tams often have the body fitted slightly off centre to the chassis which can cause one side to rub more than t'other.
