Just wanted to show how bad the porting is on the standard 4.0 TVR Heads

You can clearly see the outline of where the manifold and gasket meet up and how much extra material is getting in the way of all that lovely airflow!!

Anyone with a standard 4.0 that's looking for a bit more oomph - do yourself a favour and stick some decent heads on!!

They don't look ported, that just looks like the standard wonky rover casting.
Quite right - I should have put 'casting' rather than 'porting' - either way they're pretty bad! This has got to be the biggest drawback of the standard 400

Those valve guides look massive as well. Proper getting in the way of things.

Yep, you should see the HC 4.0 guides TVR just punched the guides further into the inlet ports to accommodate the extra lift and make matters even worse rolleyes Debaron they are pretty awful frown

The head ports are still likely to be larger than the inlet manifold ports
Hmmm that's a good point Dave..... So are we saying the inlet manifold is the bottleneck in this equation?

What about the larger capacity engines (450, 500) did they have worked inlet manifolds?
