I had problems with my E36 headlamps misting up this time last year. I fitted HIDS and whilst I was at it, I drilled half a dozen holes in the plastic covers (whilst I was drilling the hole for the HIDS leads). This immediately cleared the misted lamps and I was feeling quite smug with myself…..

However, in the last couple of weeks the misting has returned, although only on the NS. Could it be to do with the positioning of the air intake or maybe AC compressor? I would have thought that if the drilled holes weren’t sufficient, then I would have misting in both headlamps – anyone experienced similar? I guess that I could try removing the plastic cover completely?

Had the same on my 328 so I took the covers off completely.

Was absolutley fine after that and there were no untoward effects either.

I have the same problem in mine. I find if I un-clip the lamp cover and leave it partially off it cures it.
