Hi , My 5 year old Staffy has begun to take a liking to eat rabbit poo.In the field where I take him for walks, the perimeter is bushy and rabbits are abundent. There is obviously a difference in the "poos" because he will sniff about and leave some but eat others. A friend of mine said my dog is deficient in some sort of ,protein or calories.I have walked him in the same place ,fed him on the same food for 3 years now. What has brought this on ??

My Weimaraner is the same, domestic or wild rabbit makes no difference. I dont think it can be a deficiency (sp) as a dog would not know if it was lacking in something. I believe they just like the taste!

Mine has been eating it since she was a puppy, now she is 2.5yrs and nothing has changed, and her diet is excellent, and she is in very good health (touches wood).

When we had a house rabbit the dog would eat any stray rabbit poo's, what's even more disgusting is he likes to eat cat poo.

Its when they start trying to eat your poo that you'll really begin to worry....
