Le Mans, What is the attraction? (Pics)

I've been to Le Mans 6 or 7 times now. 
But I have to say this year was the best. Paid a little extra for a good campsite (they only let sport and classic cars in) Met up with some like minded Brits and cruzed the streets, a little miss behaving with the motors, the odd beer and BBQ and generally had a great time. But I was thinking, I don't think there's just one thing that makes it great down on that long weekend. It's such a mix of stuff. Below is a few reasons I enjoyed Le Mans this June '04....

We paid the normal for ergular camping and there was plenty of sports and classics there
Been going for 6 years now and tend not to always carry a camera, as I have broken a couple due to beer related activities.

You were in the same campsite as me (blue rx-7)! Pretty good location, shame about the loos! As a LM virgin I though it was brillian and will definately be there again next year!

You were in the same campsite as me (blue rx-7)! Pretty good location, shame about the loos! As a LM virgin I though it was brillian and will definately be there again next year!

Small world man, i remember seeing your car at the bottom field we were on. The Yellow RX7 used to smoke well each morning i recall. That and the Red 512 Ferrari, which i believe was a worse than the Mazda. Looks like a nice motor yours, brisk i'd have thought.
Good campsite, i got a bit fed up with the Shower Block as well, low water pressure. Loo's were better than most at LeMans weekend. (In fact i'm bound to get flack for the Shower comment!) And the courtesy coach fiasco was rather poor at time too! (I'm bound to get flack for the Shower comment!)

John's FD was a bit smokey and a tad loud (down to quite large porting on the engine) but very very fast. Used to be the most powerful twin turbo 7 in the UK but he's gone single now and it's even beastier!

Ta, pretty quick in a streight line - around 300 bhp (250/tonne) with decent top end speed, let down by the driver on the twisties though. Having been in a mate's supercharged Elise I know the RX-7 is outclassed totally in handling stakes!

The loos were bearable and better than those at the track. Showers weren't great when busy. May well go back there as the organisers are promising better facilities next time! Might have a slightly bigger rotary contingent next time to

Why is LM great?? It just is, no need to ask, just go and experiance.

BTW, those Ferrari supporters, 2nd pick on 1st post are pretty good!! It shows motor racing isn't just a blokes thing!!
