Hi all, have been a 'reader' on the PH site for many years, even tried to sell a car on here once (all I got were dealer calls from that ad), but remained a silent partner. Then I started reading some of the threads on the forums on PH, and decided to sign-up, and have a go.
Best way to start, IMO, is to post in readers cars my car history to date.. so here goes;

Reg'/Model/Exterior Colour/Interior Colour

1983/Ford Escort MkIII 1.3GL/Green/Brown (owned '92-'94)
1986/Ford Fiesta MkII XR2/Reg/Grey ('94-'96)
1990/Ford Fiesta MkIII RS Turbo/Black/Grey ('96)
1994/Mitsubishi FTO GPX/Red/Black ('97-'00)
1993/BMW E36 320iSE/Black/Silver ('00-'02)
1998/BMW E36 328iS Individual/Blue/Black&Blue ('02-'05)
2003/BMW E60 545iSE/Grey/Black ('05-'08)
2002/Mini Cooper R53/Red/Red ('08-'09)
2007/BMW E60 M5/Blue/Black ('08-'09)
2007/Mini Cooper S R56/White/Black ('09-present)
2009/BMW E84 X1 xDrive 23d/Black/Beige ('09-present)

A little info on each (at work, sorry it's not pages 'n pages biggrin)

Escort MkIII 1.3GL
First car .. Metallic green with brown cloth interior. What can I say.. First car, so it was the fastest car in the world!! Served me very well, tried to make it look like a light green metallic XR3i.

Fiesta MkII XR2
Having attempted to make an XR out of a met' green Escort, I decided to get a genuine XR car. Loved this old thing. Felt amazingly fast to me (we're talking early 90's and aged 19). Was awful to insure, interior rattles meant a lot of time wedging Kelloggs cereal box cut-offs in various places. But, I didn't care, it was an XR, baby !!!!!!!

Fiesta MkIII RST
Bought this from a guy who had featured it in a Max Power issue. Hmmm, not a reason to buy a car, but this thing was stupid quick (for me at the time at least). All the usual chav mods, and circa 200hp. I bought it for my 21st birthday, drove it once (as spent the week drinking) .. then it was stolen (bascially, owned for 1 week). Then, got screwed by the insurance! Live 'n learn.

Mitsubishi FTO GPX
Bought off of the guy who grey imported it (they weren't officially sold in the UK at the time). Loved it. The 2.0 V6 Mivec engine was a gem, plus I had a rare (most were tiptronic) 6speed manual. No one had seen one before, so got a lot of attention in this car. Plus, it was the first time I'd ever seen electric folding mirros. I used this at EVERY opportunity.

BMW E36 320iSE
Booooooring (no offense to any current owners). Was the first family wagon. Nice sound to those old i6 2.0s, but it didn't last too long.

BMW E36 328iS
This was my first "real" BMW. Was stunning (at the time). Individual paint, indivudual interior. Was the Sport model too, so had the BBS spoke rims, and the M aero kit. Loved this car, but being a coupe and having a second child, we needed to go bigger >>>

BMW E60 545iSE
The Bangle E60 shape divided opinion, but I loved it. Although it was an SE, I had the M Sport Aero kit retrofitted before I took delivery (dealer supplied and fit). Put some 19" Alpina Classics on it, and it looked superb. Went well too, but decided to let DMS spinkle some magic dust over it. That V8 was smoooooooooooooth.

BMW E60 M5
Had to .. Just, had to. Took the 545 in for a service, and walked past an M5 they had inside the dealership. They offered me a test drive... "Yeah, I want one". But the one I tested was too "used". They found one for me that had only done 800 miles, in Interlagos Blue with black interior. Perfect. Oh, and it had dropped from £74k to £60k. I'll take that, thank you very much. From taking the 545 in for a service, to having the Interlagos Blue M on my drive was 1 week. That V10 was incredible. For all the moans that people made about the low down torque (lack of), who cares. I kept it above 6000rpm and never noticed the lack of torque smile .. It flew. But not enough. So I had Evolve sprinkle some magic dust over it. And had the limiter removed. That lead to me getting a feature in BMW Car Magazine. Awesome day out on the shoot. It was an M car shoot, so I also got to try out:
BMW E30 Evo II
BMW E46 M3 CSL
BMW E63 M6
BMW E92 M3
Sold the M in 2009 (19months ownership) as the world was falling apart, fuel prices were going sky-high, and my wife kept bumping into thigs in it (it was her daily driver). Hence, the next purchase .........

BMW E84 X1
First ever "brand new" car. I had so much cash left over at the dealership from the trade-in on the M, that the X1 received 13k worth of goodies on top. Oops. Still, it's a lovely car to drive, the 23d engine is actually pretty bloody good around town. Bit noisey on the motorway though. But, perfect for the better half.

Oh, the Minis are my station runs. Although, the Cooper S (with JCW Aero kit) is now my outlet for a blast at the weekend. Great fun little motors.

What's next? I've been eyeing up a replica AC Cobra for the past couple months. I will do it, but the house is being renovated for the next year or so... So, once that's done.

Thanks all ...
Jay.

Good read, thanks for that. Interesting that once many people start buying BMWs they keep doing it. Some pics would be nice smile

Still find the majority of people I meet have no idea what my car is ('99 facelift manual GPX). They're also my first folding mirrors and I still do them at pretty much every opportunity biggrin

Ps. Nice car history, Cobra rep sounds like a brilliant next move.

Absolutely love the M5 mate. Stunning car.

Is that a picture of your 545 parked at Rayleigh station? If so, you must be localish to me smile
