another Wedge related question,

have taking all small jobs to fix the 350i('1986),minor things as rubbers in roof,
electric wiring checked out,exhaust,,,
now testing the engine,i do have the impression the engine is recieving to much air!
when pushing the gaspedal,it takes a fraction to get the full power, then it is off like a rocket,
it has a K&N airfilter what was not a good fit to the inletvalve, when I seal off a small section off the inlet,
the gaspedal gives full power(that is off road!)what could be the problem or is this normal?ignition set up wrong?
engine is 3,5l with 210bhp,kent cams

thanks for any advice on this

Rudy

Hi Rudi

Easier to post up some pictures of the engine bay and point out where you are getting the air leak from? If it is from the tube connecting the AFM (air flow meter) to the plenum then replace with a silicone one with good quality clips. Post some pics then we may be able to advise...

here is finally a picture off the set-up,removed K&N filter,as it seems to be loose on the connection, put it back on
with new parts to fix it better, engine runs much better, also find a small hole in left manifold, was able to weld it
without disconnect the hole bunch!
another step forward, now waiting for dry wether?? to test the 210BHP on the surface,

If you are still getting a flat spot then the usual culprit is the flex hose from the AFM to the plenum.

Take it off and carefully check the hose for splits usually underneath. Get a smooth bore replacement so the air is free flowing. ACT in the UK provide these.
