Seat wear on alcantara seats

Currently looking for an R-class and went to view one today, but it has the half leather with alcantara centres on the seats. This isn't a problem except the alcantara part was very worn - way more than I thought a car which had a supposed 43,000 should have.

Is this normal for these types of seats? Anyone got any experience?

To be honest the condition of the seats looked like they came out of a 200,000 mile taxi rather than a relatively young prestige car....

They hardly show any sign of wear in my experience. My OH had an 85k ML500 and the interior was literally like new!

I gues if the previous owner was getting in an out of it 20 times a day then perhaps they might wear a little more.

This was my concern, think I might pass on this car as I'm not convinced the mileage is straight - the interior told a different story to the logbook - looks like it was being reset between MoTs and services.

I've come to the conclusion that all Mercedes with more than one previous owner have been clocked.

There was a V12 S class on eBay for sale recently.
"160k" and the drivers seat was totally knackered!



I've seen dubious looking low mile cars on MB forecourts. It's rife!

It doesn't seem to wear very well.

The non-Sport models are much better specified (are they called SE or something wk like that?) with leather and wood and sensible wheels. I can't imagine why anyone would want an R-Class in sport trim anyway. They are great cars. Two good friends have them and both are really impressed.
