...I've been looking at getting a kit for someone as a present.

A lot of them seem incredibly cheap (like sub £40) and I'm a bit suspicious, as usually this could mean they are rubbish.

Has anyone bought and fitted one and able to give some feedback?

Thanks in advance

I fitted a wireless set to my transit, it is hit and miss wether it switches on when revese is selected ( probably a dry solder joint in the box). But when it works it is very accurate.

I've fitted a couple of £20 sets to previous cars yikes
The sensors were largish though.

I've just had a £40 kit fitted to my car for £140 all in and they're spot on. I used Curt at proparkuk.com. He has a kit that is cheaper, but these are larger.

I got a Dolphin DPS400 kit from Ebay for my wife's MINI (I know!) and they are very good quality. £55 delivered and they come with the drill bit to make the holes in your bumper.

Sensors are old school, you can get a camera and a colour screen for under £50.

I would question the quality for £50, plus the screens are intrusive.

I have bought and fitted loads to the vans at work (over 20 sets), I wouldn't spend more than £25 as they are all very similar anyway, i have had one sensor fail in 3 years.

I have just put some of these on the wife's car, at £11 you can't go wrong, they are identical to the more expensive ones and they can be sprayed to match the car.

As above, I fitted a £16 (delivered) eBay kit to my car and it works a treat! Hardest bit is drilling the holes and running the cables (I took the bumper off) but works perfectly.

Likewise. The kit even came with the correct sized drill.

I'm in with this lot, fitted these to my last three vehicles and all worked faultlessly. I've also fitted a set to the father father-in-laws old car and currently have set on order to fit to his new one.
If you look around on ebay you can also get coloured ones - okay so their not 'matched', but it's better than having a black sensor on a coloured vehicle.

The STEELMATE sensors are top quality and are probably
worth paying the bit extra for.

My mate just fitted a system to his work van, think it cost about £80 for all the bits. Invisible to the average eye outside the car, standard looking rear view mirror switches to a monitor when reverse is engaged and the quality is fabulous. I think the most painful part of the process would be fitting it. This should be standard equipment on every car.
