Hi

So I bought a 2nd hand car (2 years old) from a main dealer (200 miles away) this summer. It has/had one year left of the new car warranty left. Car has a panoramic sunroof. Within 2 days of ownership I noticed front and rear offside carpets very wet. Car was booked into a local main dealer to be fixed. Within a week or two the front carpets were still wet, so the leak was still there. Went in a 2nd time to be fixed. Within a week or so of taking the car back, the driver side footwell was now getting wet. Went in to be fixed a few weeks ago. Got car back, all seemed fine until this morning where the front drivers footwell is wet again.

As you can imagine I am pretty peeved with this ownership experience thus far, and wondered what my options are, other than just taking back for a 4th dealership visit... any goodwill due? Can I return the car?

Have contacted the UK customer service and await their thoughts. Supplying main dealer don't want to know. Car did smell very heavily of carpet cleaner when i bought the car, so part of me thinks the problem existed when I got the car and the dealer knew about it.

For what it's worth, the car is a Skoda Yeti and other than this stupid leaking roof it is great.

Thoughts appreciated...

Out of interest, wy do you think it's the roof?

VAGs have a history of this and the problems are either water coming in under the windscreen surround not clamping down, or leaves clogging up the drain holes and overflowing and again coming n via the pollen filter.

Either way, disappointing that the dealers couldn't trace/fix it but doesn't surprise me with VAGs.

Panoramic sunroofs have a history of doing this, not just on Yeti's, my old BMW suffered from blocked drains. I have also heard of dodgy windscreen fitment and leaky AC condensors... although to be honest, the dealer should have/should be finding the source of the water ingress...

As above I'd have a look at every drain point you can find and make sure its clean.

You have my sympathies. I had a Puma that leaked like a barsteward. Ford in their wisdom had decided to bring a bundle of wires into the cabin via a horizontally mounted rubber gromit engine side of the firewall.

The fact this lead directly to the ECU wasn't particularly clever either rolleyes

A quick Google of yeti sunroof leaks reveals a few conversations and vids (I assume some are you OP?)

Yep, new rear drains and front (i think) have been installed, this sorted the off side (eventually), but the front drivers side is still leaky....

The BMW Touring is v bad for this, with the leak forming in the boot floor, just where all the electronics were neatly installed (but not protected)....

My main questions is, what can I do (if at all) at a dealer/UK headoffice level to get this resolved or otherwise?

Time to reject the car. Constantly wet carpets will be f*cked.

Ask for a replacement car either with a non leaking sunroof, or no sunroof.

Yes. Esp as it cam from a Skoda dealer. They clearly cant solve the fault, so they need to replace the vehicle with one that doesnt leak, or give you your money back.

My sister had a leaking second hand Volvo 480 many years ago. With the help of my father (lawyer) they replaced it with another similar (same spec) car.

Thanks Issey, yep read all these forums, sent links to the dealer.... done everything I can do above and beyond what should be expected for the customer, to help find the fault.

I think I will give the supplying dealer an opportunity to try and fix the water ingress one more time with the caveat that the car will get returned if it happens again. Will also inform and let Skoda UK of the history thus far and my intension to reject.

Any more thoughts?
