Happens to me a couple of times a year, but then I'm filling/topping up 3 times a week at least.

It's not limited to one pump at any one station either, just seems to be completely random.

I usually mention it to the cashier when I pay and then go to the air & water machine to rinse down the side of the car.

As far as I can recall its happened to me once and comes out at a rapid rate of knots. I tend to listen now to when its coming up the filler and go to part throttle.

Yep, happened to me, while the nozzle was wedged with the fuel filler cap and my hands in my pockets keeping warm!

I guessed that cost me about £2 in spilt fuel and about 50 man points for spilling fuel!

I have the opposite whereby the filler constantly clicks, dispensing only about 25ml of petrol at a time unless I hold the nozzle upside down and half out of the hole, which cant be too safe either?

I had this in the X5 every time I filled up, filling from empty was a time consuming task

Due to the car's filler neck design. The Jag used to get this all the time - and I remember JC mentioning it when he was reviewing the newer X350, as a comparison.

I found that with some pumps to had to play around with the position to stop it doing this.

Funnily enough it happened to me last night. Luckily I glanced down at the right moment and stopped just as diesel was oozing up the filler neck.

Where I used to work we had to fill our own buses up when we got back to the yard, several times I ended up with a faceful/mouthful of diesel when a dennis dart decided to spit it back out at me. Yuk!

Guys with the issues of it clicking off, it was the same in my old Jag, and my old RCZ. The best way I found, turn the pump 180 degrees from your normal position, works wonders wink

Happened to me afew times when I used to fill up a motorbike I used to ride. Did make me abit worried as I would see the petrol drip down to the really hot engine.

I'm surprised you got it to stop at the pump at all and didn't just sail straight past it. Bloody awful brakes on those things.

Marina filling stations and boats are the worst for it. It quite often shoots fuel all over the deck when filling if you're not careful. You get a right telling off it you get it in the sea as well (quite rightly too)
