Do any of you experience the following:-

You've washed the car, including the wheels or it was raining when you last took her out.
You park her up for a few days
Then when you go to take her out again, she is 'stuck'?
The brakes, or something to do with the wheels has seized up in some way preventing you from pulling away with ease, requiring gentle acceleration (being mindful of the warm up procedure) to set you free

Thanks

Sounds like brake discs rusting and then sticking. Common on large discs in my experience.

Yep everytime.

I also always park the car in gear without the handbrake on as I find it reduces the effect.

If you leave your car over a period of time in winter, best not to put the hand brake on. Again, it will cause sticking issues...

We never leave the handbrake On and ours does the same, it's the front discs rusting and sticking to the pads. Tried pushing him out the garage the other day - no chance had to start him up and drive out. With a clunk as they release, then took him for a spin to clean them up

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. I will try the handbrake off method to see what if any difference that makes.

Take it round the block after you've washed it and apply the brakes a few times...will dry the discs out.

Agreed as the best way. even leaving the handbrake off does not cure this for me.

Yep, I do the same and make sure its far enough to dry the brakes out, 30 miles seems to be about right.

TVR's aren't the only cars it happens on though - the worst I had was an Audi where the rear drums seized solid after washing the car and leaving overnight All trying to drive off did was to slip the clutch even when fully released. Had to be taken to a garage, rear wheels in the air, for them to use copious amounts of plus gas and a very large hammer to get the drums off.
