Best option for a colour change?
Discussion
I'm looking at options to buy a TVR Cerbera (returning to) I'm weighing up spending a bit more on the car and trying to find one near to what I want vs buying a bit cheaper and making it what I want, eg: this one (link below) which is cheap, i think, because its a bloody aweful colour.
Question, whats the best option for a colour change - re spray, wrap? and what sort of money would I need for a decent quality job?

A PROPER respray will be 3/3.5k(what I charge) and the wrap somewhere between 600-1k
Depends on what you are after?
I would love to find one of these guys that do the under 2k respray properly as I would probably just send all mine there and just take the money.
To do it properly your are looking at around 1k in materials minimum. Depending on finish and bodywork etc!

How do you work that out ?
Primer pack £80-100
Basecoat(water based 5ltr) £4-600
Lacquer(5ltr)£290
These are obviously retail prices I buy them for less.
Add in degreaser, thinners, sanding discs, filler, wipall, masking tape, masking paper, polymask. Compounding heads, polishing compound, fine finish compound and wax finish.
Can't say that's far off really!

Hi Mate,
I know several owners of Nobles, who have their car's completely wrapped and they look amazing
The wrapping was provided by The Sign Team. You can get any finish. In terms of durability, wrapping is very durable, and the benefit is, you don't have to get the whole car wrapped again if you get any damage.
Here is the link: http://www.thesignteam.com/
They can and do, pretty much everything, with any style, finish of wrap. You won't get a polished finish like a paint, but it's pretty dam good
In terms of engine, no idea what the comment is about. Have a look anyway
I know the company personally and they are highly regarded. If you want a further recommendation, they wrap all of the Radicals, as they are also based in Peterborough
Here is a link to another post, a chap on pistonheads did. He had his Tuscan wrapped
Remember, if you don't like the colour, for under a grand, you can have another

When I puchased the materials to paint a car I was amazed at the cost.
When I shopped around for quotes most places said that materials would come in at about £800 and this was for a very small car.
To get the TVR painted a different colour which means to do it properly stripping everthing off the car inc engine out etc I would estimate 4-5k minimum.
Ive had quotes to colour change my noble and they are all over 3k... friend had his Ultima done recently (same colour but complete) and that was 3.5k.
... having bought paint I know thats going to come to £700ish and then consumables like thinners, sandpaper etc etc...
So unless you have completely stripped you car and then done a lot of the prep a £2k paint job cant be that realistic unless they are really doing you a massive deal... you wont something better than a cheap blow over on a TVR... in fact Im actually considering that a 3.5k job isnt going to be good enough for my car unless i do a load of the work myself
