Their adverts are crap, without a shadow, but as a parent of a 5yo and a 7yo, finding hotels whose family rooms have 3 proper beds, rather than two doubles is a blessing. I have stayed at 4 this year, all of which have had a double, a single sofa bed and a pull out single bed from under the double.

It may seem like a minor thing to those without children or those with just a single child and mock all you like at the brand image compared to those more upmarket brands, but i'm a big fan. I've stayed at all the usual suspects and although i've seen many better quality rooms, better breakfast, nicer tea and coffee i'll stick to Premier Inn and get a decent nights kip. I.e. not having my two kick ste out of each other all night. Or wake up at 5am when one rolls over and wallops the other and we're all awake.

Be interested to see if any other chains start to follow suit.

We've stayed at both Premier Inn and Travelodge family rooms and both have been excellent for us and the 2 kids. They're very practical, clean and excellent value.

On the other side of the scale...I stayed in the Paddington Hilton last year and it wasnt anywhere near as clean and comfortable as the PI we stayed in the following week.

Work paid for it so it has nothing to do with price in this instance.

I tend to agree. I stay all over the country for work and while I mostly stay at holiday inns when I can because of the good points system I obviously pick a hotel that is closest to where I am working.

whilst I have not tried a family room, PI have improved greatly

Big fan of Premier Inn, decent rooms that don't cost the earth and generally in decent locations.

Always stayed in premier Inns when off round the country. Always found them to be very good, and great VFM.

Stayed at one Travelodge this year, Coventry City centre when visiting motor museum and it had one double and one foam folding double. Didnt sleep well.

Stayed at one Holiday Inn (I think, Bristol Airport) had two doubles too. Nicer than Travelodge, but not as nice at PI.

Sounds stupid, but I suspect I will book a PI for my son and I night before Autosport show at NEC, just for the hell of it.

Also, and again a mute point for most, but my son is allergic to milk (and egg) and PI serve soya milk on request. Yes, he can go the odd day without cereal/tea so its no big deal whatsoever, just a nice touch, for me at least. You wonder how much hotel chains spend on advertising to get you to stay there, but my loyalty is due to a proper 3rd bed and a carton of soya milk.

I've stayed in Premier Inns on a few occasions, and I can't fault them. They've always been spotless and well presented. On the odd occasion I've had breakfast in the restaurant, it's been perfectly acceptable. For the price, you can't beat it imo.
