Which Trail Shoes?

I need a set of Trail shoes for the upcoming Hell in the Middle run in Feb.

Now, I am fine when it comes to road shoes. I have been wearing Mizuno Wave Alchemy for years now, replacing the old pairs with the new model each year. It's a motion control shoe, very light and I am happy with it. But when it comes to trail shoes, I really struggle to find something as comfortable. Has anyone experienced similar or can anyone recommend a trail shoe that they wear as well as wearing road shoes similar to me?

Can you get trail shoes in motion control fit? I am going to try the Mizuno Wave Ascend at my local run shop but other ideas would be very welcome.

Comfort and support are very personal things. However, I and a lot of folk that I run/train with wear Adidas Kanadia Trail 4's. They're mega cheap, mega grippy in rough conditions and I personally find them really comfortable. Plus, at £40 they're practically disposable!

i use innov8 x-talon 212's......they're fecking superb and thoroughly recommended.

Forget motion-control.
Learn to run properly and graduate onto some NB minimus trail MT1010s.

Inov8 and Walsh both make excellent fell-running/offroad shoes.

The usual suspects offer trail shoes too. I often use a pair of Nike Pegasus Trail for my mixed terrain runs as they're fine on and off road but the Inov8s are much better in muddy, slippery conditions.

I use a Merrell Trail Glove both on and off road, its a barefcoot style shoe. Seems to last well and is comfortable worn with no socks.

I'm using Saucony Kinvara TR's. they are fairly have a fairly low drop (4mm I think). Can't fault them so far.

I was wondering the same thing after a very slippy cross country race in road shoes at the weekend.

Just ordered a pair of trail gloves at a good price on eBay. Wil let you know how they are.

What advantages do people see in the trail-glove style shoe over the "zero drop but still cushioned from sharp rocks/scree" of fell-runnning shoes?

Has anyone run in both?
