Hello,

Just getting ready to start running all the speaker cables before the plasterboard goes up.

Can anyone recommend a speaker cable and where to buy for ceiling speakers to wall plate.

Will be using Monitor CT165 (or similar) ceiling speakers hooked up to Sonos. If this makes any difference?!

I will need over 100m so nothing to expensive. If anyone sells it, drop me an email.

Thank you in advance.

I'd go Van Damme Blue - amazing quality for the price and nice and neural. You an get a 50m reel for around £120. 2.5mm or 4mm. Might be tempted to go for the 4mm in wall.

For SONOS and general listening you don't need to go mad at all.

In the higher quality rooms maybe look at a SONOS Connect and a separate amp, then better cable and speaker will be worth it, but I have not yet had a client of mine ask for anything better.

I use a specialist, custom installer cable, but it is still under £200 for 305m retail.

Just to add to VEX's expertise:

Can I make a suggestion that you try to get 4 core if at all possible, it will simplify and speed up things no end.

ETA Sorry Stu, didn't mean you don't know what you're talking about, just that Vex does it for a living!

Would it be possible for me to buy a box of 305m from you or 100m offcut?

Just use 2.5mm mains flex, in fact 1.5mm will be quite adequate for ceiling speakers and Sonos.

If you go for some really good cable at £5k per linear foot, the sound is so good you don't even need speakers or amps!

Otherwise get Maplin OFC 12awg auto speaker cable or use mains twin and earth.
