I'm considering swapping my TVR T350 for either a 964 or 993, I came across this car which caught my eye. I'm no expert on Porsches so is there anything glaringly obviously wrong with this car?

I couldn't get further than the slushbox, if you don't mind that it might be ok.

Tip wouldn`t be my choice and that `woodgrain` lever is nasty... But I guess that doesn`t help you very much.

Try the search function on here as the things to look out for when buying a 993 have been discussed many times on here.

Ad says EXCELLENT SH but doesn't say FULL SH. I'm no expert on porsches, but ~60k miles is often when serious expenditure/refreshes could be needed, discs, pads, suspension etc etc, so if it were me I'd be getting a full expert inspection on it.

Agree wth the others. Unless you are specifically after an automatic, then give it a miss.

If that's the car I think it is (beneath the private plate), then it's been "for sale" for at least 4 years now...

I called them today. The car is an import from Malaysia in 2000. It has a supposed full history since 2000 with a mixture of OPC and indies and had approx 3k spent last year. Last owner had it stored for a couple of years and the dealer has had it recently resprayed and wheels painted refurbed. Going to look at itb tomorrow so will report back.

I looked at a couple of 996 Targas they had when a friend was buying. Quite a few of the cars they had were SOR. In the end we didnt buy from them as the cars werent quite what my friend wanted.

I'd suggest trying to buy a car of the nature you want from an indie specialist as they should know what they are selling and if the insurance backed warranties a dealer offers cannot cover it you want a dealer to hopefully step in especially to cover niggles such as electrics on cars of this age.

If you are going to see the car l'd also suggest you call at PCT at Coventry and also Shirleys at nearby Meriden....l've used both before & they also have on-site servicing expertise.

Your right. I asked if the PP came with the car and the salesman said they had just put that plate on for the photo's.

What do you know about the car, may save me the bother of going to see it.

Exactly what I was thinking.

There is a lot to read there, miles changing everytime it's sold, confusion if its a Cat D, stolen exhaust, sunroof left open in the winter etc etc etc!

Not worth £20k IMO

This.

PCT have a nice blue 993 on their website and usually a couple of 964s.

Had a look at the blue 993 C2 at PCT today. Very nice car, a pre vario-ram model with 78k miles and a very fully documented history. Only covered 10k miles or so in the last 10 years and had a major spark plug service in mar 2011 and a minor in Mar 2012.

The people at PCT are very helfull and the car drove very well, anybody any info on this car.
