Petrol smell culpret found

I returned from a 5 week business trip in the US and was expecting to find a very dead Chim'. Suprisingly, it was up and running after a two hour charge. However, there was a really bad petrol smell. After suffering this to and from the office I investigated and found the flexible pipe from the tank had perished and split at the top and bottom - fortunately only £4 worth of new pipe from Halfords required. The question is, has anyone else seen this? It must have been happening for a while without me noticing - scary thought.

Yup sadly going thru the same hassle... both the return fuel feed pipe and the small rubber hose feed from tank to fuel pump are knackered......

Its not a bad job to sort.. but i need to jack the car up to make removing the tank easier (to undo the clip)
