Hi All,

Just about 2 years after having a "new" Porsche battery fitted by my best friends at OPC West London the b'stard battery has given up the ghost. Call to Tonbridge confirmed that I need a new Porsche battery or else my warranty is invalid. Grrrr

It just sucks that if I had a Halfords or CostCo (Bosch) battery it would have been exchanged for free.

Sorry just venting folks.

Cheers

Sunil

I would be trying for a goodwill warranty claim.

One of the reasons why I didn't renew my OPC warranty 3 years ago. I'm still quids in with my choice of exhaust/battery/air freshener! biggrin

I'm so glad I'm into the older cars!
I couldn't be taken for a ride by Porsche like this.

Madness.

Sorry op, no help I know.

Can't believe your not allowed to change to a decent branded aftermarket battery, I'd would find out who makes the porsche one and replace with that can't argue then!

It's not a Porsche warranty! It's a third party warranty which insists that you have ALL work carried out by an OPC using original Porsche parts.

engines made of chocolate, batteries made out of sponge pudding, suspensions made out out of kit-kat (I have the twix upgrade). Welcome to the world of Willy Wonka (yeah, he's got a car these days)!

I had a battery fail while under warranty and my OPC (West London) replaced it while I waited FoC. Not sure if it is specifically covered by the warranty or if it was a Goodwill gesture but the service team (I dealt with a chap called Sukh) couldn't have been more efficient or helpful.

Check your warranty docs and ask them perhaps?

This whole extended warranty makes my blood boil and my head explode!!!

My 987 CS is 6 yrs old, always serviced at OPC, warranty checks every year and extended warranty taken out.

2 months ago strange noise from front suspension so I take it in......diagonsed as front near side lower suspension control arm - I had to pay as it wasn't covered as it was deemed normal wear and tear!!

So, what isn't classed as normal wear and tear on a 6 yr old car????

Think I'll be keeping my £1000 in my pocket come next March!!

To the OP I would ask them to tell you why it "gave up the ghost".

My OPC happily changed out my battery (I cant remember exactly what it was but "weak cell" sounds similar)while under the extended warranty with no quibble.

Worth a bit more pestering maybe?

Control arm should be changed under warranty

I also had a battery changed under warranty without even asking.

Would you care to elaborate on this? As I feel the other side needs replacing and could use your experience and knowledge to get this done under the warranty.

About 3 years ago on my old C4S had a knocking sound and they replaced the control arm. Thats all I know. Having done a search on the web there seems to be mixed success with warranty claims for this item.
