Difficult to know where best to post this thread! I am soon to purchase a new pair of spec's, having had a look at the usual stuff in the high st I decided that they have nothing that I care for. Managed to get a couple of good leads to the old glasses shop and also Algha. Both of these offer much nearer to my preference which is styling reminiscent to the 1920's/30's in the form of round framed. (I am involved in re-enactments from this period) Has anyone alternative U.K. based retail outlets they could recommend please.

I'm an optician and we have recently done several Anglo American Optical frames would probably fit your description
www.angloamericanoptical.co.uk
They would probably put you in contact with a local supplier.

I too wear period specs, for many years now. Always buy them from http://www.operaopera.net/ who do work for film and theatre. Not cheap but handmade, good quality and service. Make sure you make an appointment first as they are reluctant to let you in off the street! In fact they will make anything that you want if you can afford it.
