Chim hunting - what to look for???

Hello all,

some of you may recognise me from GG, but the time is rapidly approaching where a Chim will be a necessity in my life!! (spurious i know, but the GF has fallen for it)

I am going to employ the services of a specialist TVR checker (any suggestions)

But before i get them out to check any prospective purchases, i would like to check all the obvious stuff myself to save any unnecessary trips if the car fails on something obvious.

Bear in mind i am no mechanic, so if you mention something not particularly well known, could you describe where it is on the car, so that i can put that on my list.

Also, is a 450 a good place to start chim ownership, or would i be better off with a 400 for reliability, servicing cost and resale value.

As for engine size, little in it on reliability and running costs.

450 for me was the best all rounder.
