ive got this
http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/products/htx-22hd-34635...

running it with some el cheapo rear speakers at the momenet

i was thinking of upgrading a little ..so could either use the existing fronts as rears and get some better fronts

or should i stick with the same onkyos all round

basicly can i do better for money than onkyo speakers

edit ..orig ones are 6ohm 40 watt , and like to stay with a similar size

What are you trying to improve? At the end of the day it's your ears doing the listening.

well i wanted to get rid of the cheapo rears ..if i can buy better fronts and use the onkyos as rears then that makes sense to me

im no hi-fi bod ..just didnt want to search out matching onkyo speakers if theyre a bit average /poor

or is it bad form having non matching sets?

I'm using Onkyo speakers with an Onkyo receiver, have been 2 years.

I'd say they are poor/average speakers when you see what is available out there. I am now looking to replace the front center (which from what I've researched should have the biggest impact) and maybe the 2 small fronts for some floor stander's.

The rears don't produce much sound so I don't have a problem with them.

My long term wish list is.
Kef center channel.
Kef five two floorstanders
Kef eggs.

right so similar idea to me then

if theyre average then they can do for the rears and i will search out something nicer for the front end

would richer sounds let me take in mine to compare to a new purchase ?

I mated some KEF eggs to my onkyo amp. For the price I think there about as good as you can get.

I'm by no means a sound guru, but they seem to do the job for me. I have only compared them to friends systems of similar price, and I do prefer the sound.
