Battery prices??

OK, have decided charging problem is battery (gamble rather than deduction)

Offords have quoted me £55+VAT for an 072 with the correct cranking power 630-650amps I think.

Motaquip offered @ £44+VAT, but this was only 570amps, and the bible made it quite clear I should not go for cheap/less.

Anyone know of a better deal (in the Herts/Essex area)??

paid £26 for mine which was 580A. I couldnt fit the bigger 072 one with higher ampage cos my chim is an early one with the smaller battery box. However, I did buy the 072 to begin with and paid £28! been fine for the last 9 months

Tried Maccess on the internet - couldn't find right info. Can anyone point me to the right website for purchase/delivery?

Halfords can be quite good... If you want a laugh pay the couple of quid and they will attempt to fit it for you

Thanks for the tips - just spoke to V8Centre, too far & don't deliver, but nice helpful chaps all the same!

They suggested the 075 instead as 072 can be tricky. It's the facelift '97 Chimaera....

Steve, as the expert, would I be safe with 072, or is it a case of each one's different sir?

IIRC you need a vented battery.

..well IIRC all battery's "vent" a bit, even the sealed ones which do some re-combination of gasses or something...? I'm no expert

Try Lincoln batteries. Next to Fairfield BMW/Mini on the A127. I find them very cheap and helpful.

I went for halfords last time round. Paid about £60-70 with a 4 year warranty, but it was well worth the money. As after a year the battery was very dead. So I didn't bother trying to charge it, just took it in with the reciept. The sales person tried to put their tester on it but it wouldn't even power up the tester.

So they gave me a Brand new battery with a new 4 year warranty. No problems or hassels. Just keep the reciept!

A dishonest person might wait a year, flatten the battery and go back in and claim another. Free batteries for life!
