Driving Lessons

Makes no difference if they are part of a driving school all it means is they are paying the AA/BSM or whoever to be on their books, for what it's worth I learnt with a self employed guy who was great, I'd ask around for recommendations from people who've recently had lessons.
Thought the AA were a franchise like the school my missus used to teach for. You rent the car, you pay them big bucks, they give you students.Cant say enough good things about this lot, get to drive around in something a bit different from the norm as well. They are normally really busy though.

I went with a reputable local instructor, I'd say that your business means much more to them. I've heard a few stories about AA messing students around with different instructors and lesson changes etc.
I agree with this, see my profile for my learner car. I could have learnt in the latest hatchback but I wanted quality instruction. I can say my instructor is amazing - he is also a proper petrolhead which makes the weekly lessons enjoyable. I have also been allowed to do some fun things and even take mates back home after the cinema on empty roads at 10.30pm at night. It was amazing!
So OP, go with a reputable instructor and not necessarily one with head-line figures.
I was with RED for learning to drive. The guy I got, just wanted me to pass to the best of my ability without wasting money. He didn't bother going over the questions you get at the beginning of the test ext, he just handed me a bit of paper and told me to revise / watch videos in my own time. Waste of money spending £18 per hour doing it was his reasoning.
I practiced parallel parking at the same spot (We're not leaving here until you get it right was his motto) and we watched a guy from the AA driving school show this girl EVERY exterior part of the ford focus. Turning head lights on, fog lights... everything. Took 1 hour!
Passed first time at 17 with 2 minors. Overtook someone doing their driving test going 20mph on a dual carriageway. Everyone else that went out the same time as me failed.
Depends who you get, some are genuine and some will try to drag the lessons on and on.
