Presumably they hibernate and our (cool) bathroom isn't the best place for that, but I don't want to kill it.

Suggestions welcome smile

Pick it up and move it?

Use fire to make it consider moving to a more comfortable place?

That's what I'm asking, where to move it to. Not convinced the shower cubicle is fire retardant so I'll pass on the other suggestion biggrin

I suspect that the lizard is also distinctly flammable. A photo would assist identification. Possibly. And therefore best practice for the creature.

No pics as it's wedged itself in a crevice and I can only see its tail. It looks most like the common newt here: http://www.herpetofauna.co.uk/identification.asp but is only 2" long.

if its a newt - which is quite likely i would think - it's hard to know quite what to suggest

they hibernate out of the pond and dont need to be damp - but if you stick it outside now im fairly sure it'll just freeze to death - i imagine they need to be well tucked up by now to survive.

Dont suppose you could just leave it where it is? did it look like this?

Your profile suggests Dorset. So these guys might be able to suggest a good place for him/her to be.

Minding the grass snakes though, obviously. biggrin

However, it's vanished again so I assume it's quite happy ensconced in a hole in the bathroom. It does mean I'll have to wait until March to silicone it though hehe
