Visiting my sister over xmas and there is normally a deep unavoidable puddle just before I get there. I'm not planning on risking too much, but given the weather forecast for Devon, how deep a flood can a classic impreza handle without risking electrics, breathers, ingestion etc? Standard intake if that makes any difference.

Police today said 24" is enough to float most cars. (Then lose control). I guess the engine coukld hydraulic before this depending on the bow wave.

I wouldn't tackle 12" in a car through choice, let alone 24, especially with loved ones in it! Standing flood bad enough, but moving water has definate homicidal tendancies.

And unless you've got someone with gradient marks on their trousers walking in front, how do you know how deep it is?

Don't know about the Impreza but the Legacy's air intake is in the grill, which is quite low. I've driven through a little more than 12" water but with clenched teeth and buttocks.
