MINI Paceman WTF?

I have just seem some pictures of the new MINI Paceman. Now, I fully accept that as an old fart who likes Morgans and traditional Minis. I can't be expected to 'get' new car styling, but surely this Paceman is just friggin' awful isn't it? I thought that MINI had hit an all-time low with the Countryman, but this is even worse to my eyes.

Will someone please explain to me what this styling is supposed to communicate?

I think I agree. The least attractive part of the Paceman is probably the headlights - too bulbous.

Edit: sarcasm aside, 215 BHP from a 1.6 engine seems fairly impressive.

Far better looking than the Countryman which proves that you can't polish a turd but you can stick a MINI badge on it.

If that had just come out as a new car, with no MINI before it, people would be laughing at it for thinking it was a cheap chinese hash up attempt at a decent hatch.

It's godawful. It's just a fat lump of playdough with chrome bits thrown at it.

Don't like it, never have and that's not because I am a fan of the old Mini, never had one and never want one. I just have no idea how it can use the name Mini, it's not Mini in any sense of the word. Unless it's Mini compared to a Pacific Island.

A Dodge Viper isn't particularly good at avoiding snakes.
