What's wrong with my camera?

I have a Lumix TZ18 which is 18 months old, today I have tried taking photos with it (as you do) and no matter what setting it is on, it is focusing on exactly the same spot every time (where the green dot shows up).

I have tried every setting, changing from spot focus, tracking focus etc, different subjects and no matter what is focusing at approx 12 o'clock.

Any ideas?

Really it's only 18 months old, expected much more of the lumix. Is it worth contacting currys or panasonic?

Well I guess there is a chance it can be sorted, so well worth contacting both that you mention.

What mode are you in ? according to the manual your AF settings are over-riden by some shooting modes - specifically scene modes.

Have tried everything, shutter priority, aperture priority, auto, manual, scene and it's the same on them all

If the manual doesn't help, thump the camera a few times whilst shouting 'bks'. It probably won't fix it but you will feel better

Maybe it's because I started looking at DSLR's and I was planning on challenging my dad to a photo competition on christmas day.

EVERY time I decide to change my car, they start to play up. They know, you know. Cameras are the same.

Have you tried pointing it at something else?



More seriously, take the battery out for a while and see what happens when you put it back. Try a reset. (Likely to be something like that somewhere in the menus.)

Not familiar with the camera in question - what would you expect it to be doing?
