Hi
Hope this isn't a daft question.
When I fill a car up the electronic display usually says around 300-310 miles until it's empty again.
Today it said 250 and it's stayed like that all day.
The car's a 2010 Fiesta.

Any idea why that should be?

Like I say, hope it's not too daft a question.

Were you parked on a slope when you filled up?

Maybe that you've had some sort of air lock when you've filled up and haven't got as much in as you usually would.

How d'you mean?

I filled it up and I'm the only one who's driven it all day. I filled it up with unleaded, as usual, and have had no problems driving it today.

It was a joke but perhaps your last bit of driving before filling it up was less economical than usual and it's taking time to reassess the remaining mileage. I hired a Transit last year, filled it up and the estimated mileage was 250 but as I drove it (all motorway) it kept going up until it reached an estimated 450 miles. After I had been driving for about an hour and a half the end mileage fell in line with what I was doing and I ended up getting about 450 miles from the tank. So although it said 250 miles this time, I expect you'll get your normal 350 out of the tankful.

They normally show full range for a while after filling up, and it would be less than normal due to recent driving achieving lower economy

My RS' readout displays different mileage to empty dependent on certain factors:

1. How much of a hoon i was on before filling up
2. What fuel I fill it with - BP 97 gives average 310mte and Shell 99/Tesco Momentum gives circa 330mte
3. Whether i reset the mpg figure before fill up
