New steering wheel required

Hi All. I'm looking for a new black suede steering wheel for my soon to be collected Tuscan. I've been on the dr*ftworks site that sell Personel wheels. There is none there i like due to just about all of them having yellow/red stitching.I want black stitching.I did mail dr*ftworks about this a week ago but no reply yet.So has anyone used another make that will fit on the same boss as a Personel one.

Not sure about the fitting but I and a good few others have gone with the Momo Trek R.

I have heard it described as "too Halfords" on here but IMO the wheel looks great and is certainly more tactile than the Personal, which I couldn't wait to get rid of. The quality is A1 too.

I suppose it depends on which car you have. Most Trek R's seem to have been fitted to the later model cars.

Ok so you have a Chim (should have checked your profile before i posted). Maybe a more classic style would suit.

You have a few options - get a new steering wheel like a Momo Trek R (which is a lot better IMHO) or get the existing one re-trimmed in the colour that you want.

Nice idea Barry.But had a rough quote of £200. I suppose i could get a suede personel wheel (£146),and black felt tip out the yellow stitching.

Who did you ask for a quote I though jack @ royal charged about £120

It was a gestimate from where i'm getting my car from.

Mines got red sticking in an all black interior with white stitching on seats etc. I was in the same boat as you and couldn't find any with black stich or white.
In all honesty it's very subtle and doesn't detract at all IMO and I'm pretty OCD.

It is strange though why there's none with plain black stiching though.

I did like the look of the trek and it does seem to suit but when I tried one in the car I just didn't like it, too much alloy which I admit is weird seeing how much is in the car anyway.

Ah glad its not just me who is a bit OCD. The car is a gorgious Reflex purple.With a greenish carpet,and grey leather. So yellow or red just won't go. I was told that i should get an indelable black marker pen and black out the stitching.Anyone done that ?

You could try one of those dylon dye pens, I tried that on the stiching on my old seats before retrimmed and it worked ok, on a black wheel and trying to make the stich black it may well work quite well.

If your going to have it re-trimmed you could have it heated.

J D Trimming in walsall specialise in leather work (walsall is the home of the leather industry). They will recover a steering wheel for you. Had 1 done a while back through a friends friend so cant tell you how much its likely to cost though.
